About Me:

Almost a native Californian; I was born in Seattle, Washington, but was transplanted in San Diego before I was 2 years old. Growing up near the eastern foothills in San Diego County, I traveled often as a kid to the local mountains. I have always been drawn to nature and felt most at ease when surrounded by its beauty. I always knew that I would end up living somewhere among tall pines and an abundance of wildlife.

My first trip to Idyllwild was accidental really. I was 11 years old when my mom piled my brother and me into the VW Bug, along with all of our camping gear with the Sequoias as our destination. Taking the most scenic route possible, we traveled through Garner Valley and that is where our engine blew up. We were stopped right in the middle of Highway 74 about a mile east of Lake Hemet. Back then, there was very little traffic along that route, but along came our rescuers in a very large, shiny Rolls Royce. Those kind folks, in their beautiful, perfect, expensive car literally pushed us the distance to the lake. We camped at Lake Hemet for a week and visited the very sleepy mountain town of Idyllwild.

I had visited Idyllwild many, many times since then and as an adult vacationed here several times a year. After bringing my daughter here for a few weekends and seeing the effect this special environment had on her, I knew it was time to make the move. My daughter, Katie, and I moved to Idyllwild 5 years ago and have never for a moment regretted this decision.

Although living “on the hill” has its challenges, it has been and continues to be completely fulfilling. My daughter, an incredibly talented visual artist, writer, actress, and singer has taken full advantage of the wonderful programs available through Idyllwild School. She hopes to be attending Idyllwild Arts Academy High School where she can further develop her talents.

Further confirming that Idyllwild was where I belonged, I met my soul mate here and married him in the spring of ’06. Now, incredibly, I have five stepchildren, who my daughter happily calls her brothers and sisters.

Together my husband and I greatly enjoy hiking and exploring every inch of our very special area. I hike every day and am always thrilled to encounter hawks, eagles, bobcats and more. Inspired by the beauty in which I live, I have also begun to explore my talents in photography.

Although my preference is for quiet family nights at home, either outside bird watching in the warmer season or, in winter, inside near the fire while watching the snow fall, there are many wonderful organizations and activities to be involved with in this community. If a more simple, tranquil, peaceful life is what you are seeking, then Idyllwild could be the perfect spot for you too!
