Keep an Eye on Your Trees

Riverside County’s local emergency declaration for bark beetle infestation in Idyllwild and Pine Cove, as well as Goldspotted Oak Borer in Idyllwild, remains in effect.

If you have mature pines or oaks on your property, keep an eye out for changes in the canopy, thinning or discolored foliage, dying branches, or other signs of decline. Catching a problem early may give you more options for protecting the tree and surrounding trees.

The Idyllwild Grinding Facility accepts bark-beetle-infested wood, but it must be identified and kept separate from other green waste. The facility does not accept material infested with Goldspotted Oak Borer.

If you’re concerned about the health of your trees and aren’t sure who to call, reach out to me. I’m happy to provide a list of qualified local arborists and other preferred professionals who can assess your trees and recommend next steps.
